NFC Tag Reader option missing - MacRumors Forums
Oct 27, 2020 · On my iPhone 8 (iOS 14.2 beta 4), I can choose the NFC Tag Reader in control panel. On my iPhone Xs (iOS 14.1) this is not an option at all. Can't see NFC Tag Reader in control panel.

Sep 6, 2022 · I have the most up to date firmware 15.6.1 on iPhone XR, however I cannot scan NFC cards. I have tried NFC Tools and a variety of other apps but have had no success. Does the iPhone still even work as a NFC reader / writer. I've tried turning off and on, taking out of cover, resetting network settings and some other ideas, but no joy unfortunately.

Dec 20, 2019 · It doesn't always mean contactless payment via NFC. There may be an NFC chip, but that still doesn't mean you can do NFC/contactless stuff. This article says there is a NFC controller in the Touch Bar. My guess it's only used for secure storage, like on iPads. Some iPads also have a NFC chip, but no antenna to do contactless stuff.

May 31, 2023 · NFC has nothing to do with other devices or Bluetooth. It could simply be a business card or a sticker on a piece of paper. Something containing an NFC tag must have been nearby your phone, within a centimeter or so for it to have been detected. The comments on this Reddit post basically explains everything.
