Colorism in the latinx culture/community is so real! Even within our own families. And it’s a struggle that comes up often with my client population. For a lot of Latinx youth and young adults, it can create a distorted sense of self and the feeling alienated. This can lead people to denounce their own culture, try and change their physical appearance, self-hate, depression, poor self-esteem to name a few. I wonder how colorism has shown up for you?
