In the 1970s Nestle dressed salespeople as nurses and told mothers in developing countries their formula was healthier than breast milk. The formula had to be mixed with unsafe water. At the peak of the scandal 212,000 infants were dying every year. They were sued but never found criminally responsible. The boycott started in 1977 and is still active today.
