Every ten years, for five months the famous Oberammergau Passion Play is performed in Germany. In 1633 the town’s people made a promise to God to enact this performance of His passion in thanksgiving for being spared the bubonic plague. Around 2,000 performers, musicians and support personnel make this spectacular performance a reality. For almost 500 years this event has defined this Bavarian Hamlet.
