This is one of my favorite amoebas to watch, it's called Cochliopodium and it's covered with scales and you can see them here as tiny “o”. And there are hundreds of them. . The scales are smaller than 1/1000th of a millimeter and because the amoeba is crawling on the glass under the microscope we are observing them from above. The scales look “o” from above but they're actually in the shape of an hourglass. . The scales are forming a single layer on the upper part of the amoeba, and I don't know
