A forerunner to fluffy American pancakes, drop scones are small, buttery, light and delicious. The buckwheat flour here gives a nutty, rustic flavour - and makes them Gluten free. Drop scones were traditionally made straight on a hot griddle. If you have an Aga, you could turn them out on the simmering plate in the same way – but a frying pan works just as well. We served ours with a blood orange compote and a dollop of yoghurt. But you can serve them with whatever you like. Perfect #pancakeday
