It’s Wildlife Wednesday! This week’s feature is the Ringtail- Bassariscus astutus. We have a healthy Ringtail population out here at Government Canyon State Natural Area, but they are rarely spotted as they are nocturnal (they leave behind clear traces of their existence though!) The information below is directly from the tpwd.texas.gov site- it is a great resource for learning about our state’s wildlife! The Ringtail is a cat-sized carnivore resembling a small fox with a long raccoon-like tail.
